A man from Haryana’s Yamunanagar allegedly murdered his daughter as he was upset with the birth of a girl child. The incident took place at the man’s rented accommodation in Badhi Majra area of Yamunanagar.

The accused man was identified as Neeraj. Neeraj was allegedly upset with his wife Varsha for giving birth to a girl child. It was also alleged that the accused is a habitual drinker.

Neeraj got married in 2015. Allegedly, the accused used to be upset with his wife as she had not given birth to a child even after 5 years of marriage.

On September 24, 2020, the woman gave birth to a baby girl and the same had upset Neeraj. On Monday, the accused returned home in an inebriated state and lay down next to the newborn baby. The accused allegedly put his leg on the girl and intentionally suffocated her, The Times of India reported.

After the child passed away, Varsha approached the police and lodged a complaint against her husband. Neeraj was booked under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) on Tuesday.

Subhash Chander, Yamunanagar Sadar SHO said,

“We managed to arrest the accused Neeraj and he was presented in the court on Wednesday, which sent him to judicial custody.”

Chander said that as per preliminary probe, the man put weight on the baby and murdered her. The body of the deceased was handed over to the family after the post-mortem was conducted.
