At least 1,335 self-repatriated Malawian nationals who arrived in the country through Mwanza Border have been cleared.
Mwanza border Spokesperson, Pasqually Zulu has confirmed the development in a statement seen by Face of Malawi reporter.
The immigration department started screening returnees at the border for Covid-19 in May this year.
There have been concerns that some people were bolting Covid-19 tests and other border clearances.
In the statement Zulu indicates that 715 of the returnees were males while 534 were females and 96 were minors, below the age of 10.
He adds that the group also had 84 deportees from Lindera detention centre.
