Government has warned suppliers in the 2020 Affordable Inputs Programme (AIP) against selling fake seeds and substandard fertilizer to farmers.

The warning has been made as the country has been recording incidences of some traders filling up sand in fertilizer bags and selling fake seeds in the previous seasons.

Lobin Lowe, Minister of Agriculture made the remarks after visiting Lunyangwa research station in Mzuzu.

Lowe said the ministry will ensure that all seeds and fertilizer on the market are scrutinized before being sold to farmers.

He added that the seed unit and soil department is very ready to do the analysis for government so that farmers are getting what they expect.

However station manager for Lunyangwa research station Tony Maulana complained about low funding for researches in the country.
