United Transformation Movement (UTM) vice president Michael Usi has trashed social media rumors that there is a rift between President Lazarus Chakwera and his deputy Saulos Chilima.

Usi was speaking at Chinsogholo ground at Lupembe in Karonga Central Constituency on Sunday during the campaign launch for the party’s candidate in the by-election slated for November 10.

According to Usi said the two leaders are working together day and night for the betterment of the country.

“And the emphasis is on the cordial relationship that is there between our President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera and his vice Dr. Saulos Chilima that they are colleagues in development, they are in harmony,” Usi said.

He therefore urged supporter of the two main political parties in the Tonse Alliance to desist from speaking ill things against Chakwera and his partner Chilima as both are there to serve Malawians.

“Therefore, there should not be anybody coming here to say anything negative about out two leaders,” pleads Usi.

He added; “We are a nation and we should be seen moving together, whether one belongs to UTM party or MCP or any other party, that does not matter.”

Usi who is also a Minister of Tourism, Culture and Wildlife advised both supporters to resist from engaging themselves in violence citing that the country is tired of political violence and that what the country needs is development.

Said Usi: “You see, Malawi is tired of political violence, hate speeches and lies. What we want now is development and we cannot achieve meaningful development if we are not united.”
