A Witchdoctor has been arrested in Zambia for being in possession of counterfeit notes amounting to K106,400 and US$200.
The witchdoctor, identified as Samuel Musonda, who hails from Mpulungu, was picked from Chulu Guest House in Kawama after he bought a cellphone worth K700 using counterfeit notes.
When the unsuspecting resident sold the phone to the witchdoctor, he attempted to deposit the money at one of the MTN mobile booths.
The alert owner of the booth noticed that the notes were fake and quickly alerted members of the public.
The members of the public ruthlessly descended on the customer and beat him before taking him to Riverside Police Station.
It was at the police station where he revealed that he actually sold his phone to a witchdoctor for K700 and later he led them to where the suspect was residing.
Copperbelt Commissioner of Police Charity Katanga confirmed the incident in an interview yesterday.
Mrs Katanga said the witchdoctor has been apprehended and that he is in police custody.
