A call has gone out to the Association of Persons with Albinism in Malawi (APAM) District committee in Neno and other key stakeholders to acquire information on what albinism is all about, in a bid to deal with the challenges people with albinism are facing in the district.
APAM Acting National Coordinator Menard Zakaliya said that a lot of it’s members are struggling, among others, due to lack of knowledge on how to manage their condition, scarcity of sunscreen lotion and mental health that comes as a result of societal perception of them.
Meanwhile, Neno district Police Officer-In-Charge Dennis Nankondwa has promised to strengthen and revamp community policing structures where training shall be provided on how to secure the rights of persons with albinism.
