Residents of Chuseek village in Kenya are still reeling in shock after a 31-year-old burn himself and his son alive over a suspicion that his wife was cheating on him.
In the Tuesday night incident, the man is said to have locked himself up inside his thatch-roofed house before setting it ablaze.
His wife and their 3 children were in the house during the incident.
According to Trasmara West Police Boss James kilonzo, his wife and 2 other children managed to escape and fled from the raging fire.
His 3-year-old was unable to escape the house which had been engulfed in flames and smoke.
The two were already dead by the time neighbours alerted by the inferno rushed to put it out
Neighbours said the incident was preceded by a long-standing series of domestic squabbles with his wife.
“We don’t know exactly whether it’s a suicide or an accident, we are yet to get full details, neighbours aren’t willing to open up and tell the story, what we know so far is that two bodies has been burnt beyond recognition ” said the police boss.
A member of Nyumba kumi ratted the details on the condition of anonymity said the deceased had been complaining of being cheated on by his wife.
He had said he was suspecting the three-year-old boy who perished in the fire was not his biologically.
Bodies of the two were moved to the Migori Level Four Hospital.
The matter is under police investigation.
