As cracks are still emerging in the former ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), legislator for Blantyre City South Constituency Noel Lipipa has said he is supporting the dismissal of other senior members.

Justifying his opinion on the matter, Lipipa said no one is bigger than the party.

DPP president Peter Mutharika fired 4 members from the party namely; Kondwani Nankhumwa who is DPP’s vice president for the south, Secretary General Grezelder Jeffrey, Jappie Mhango and parliamentarian Yusuf Nthenda.

The four were expelled for lacking discipline, as Jeffrey protested against Mutharika as the party’s president and called for a convention to elect new office bearers.

Following the development, Mutharika moved to replace members who were rallying behind Nankhumwa and made Francis Kasaila as new leader of opposition in the August House.

Meanwhile, the four dismissed party members have obtained an injunction against their expulsion while on the other hand, DPP is moving to vacate the injunction.
