Members of the Community within Mangochi Municipal have blocked the sale of land belonging to St Augustine 3 Primary School to a businessman.

They have since written the offices of the Chief Executive Officer, District Education Manager and the Police to investigate the sale of the land which was designated for construction of teacher’s houses.

A member of the concerned group, Wellington Mangulenje, alleges that some government officials at the council are conniving with unscrupulous individuals to validate illegal sale of land belonging to government institutions.

In an interview, Mangochi Municipal CEO Abubakar Nkhoma, confirmed to have received a letter of complaint from the concerned members.

However, Nkhoma says his office is already aware of the issue and it already issued a stop order for development of the land.

Nkhoma says his office will work with the Police to investigate people behind the sale of the land.
