A gym trainer has been found dead in mysterious circumstances at his rented house in Sector 68 in Mohali area of Punjab. The 23-year-old deceased has been identified as Kuldeep Singh, a resident of Dhuri in Sangrur district.

The victim’s mother claimed that Kuldeep had consumed some poisonous substance mistakenly.

“The body of Kuldeep Singh has been kept at the mortuary of the civil hospital in Phase 6 for postmortem examination. We have initiated the inquest proceedings under Section 174 of the CrPC,” a report in Hindustan Times quoted sub-inspector Jagir Singh, the investigation officer, as saying.

In a similar instance in May last year,  a 28-year-old man allegedly killed two persons, including a gym trainer, in northeast Delhi’s Jyoti Nagar area.

The arrested accused was identified as Avnish, a resident of Meet Nagar. Avnish and his associate Anil had a previous enmity with Govinda Bhati, the deceased, and they wanted to maintain their dominance in the area of Meet Nagar.

Bhati had beaten Anil some time ago. To take revenge, Avnish and Anil, along with their other associates, killed Bhati on May 29 while he was returning to his house along with his two other friends from the gym.

“Police received information that Avnish would come in the area of Mandoli to meet his friend, following which a trap was laid and Avnish was arrested,” Rajesh Deo, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime)had said.
