Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Vice President for Central Region Uladi Mussa has ruled himself out of the party’s Presidential race.

The development follows Mussa’s conviction by the High Court Judge Chifundo Kachale in a case where Mussa and former former Regional Immigration Officer, David Kwanjana issued citizenship permits and passports to foreign nationals.

Mussa and four others were arrested in March 2017.

Recently Mussa declared interest to contest for DPP’s Presidency during the party’s elective conference aimed at replacing the party’s President Peter Mutharika.

With the conviction, the race is now amongst the following people; DPP Vice President for the South Kondwani Nakhumwa who is also leader of opposition, Bright Msaka, DPP Vice President for Eastern Region and former Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Water Development Dr. George Chaponda.

Currently the party is rocked in leadership squabbles.
