Mzuzu Magistrate Court has adjourned to November 12, 2020, a case involving Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) regional governor for the North, Christopher Mzomera Ngwira and four other persons.
Ngwira together with DPP Deputy Director of Operations, Joe Nyirongo , well know as Big Joe, Lumbani Munthali, Thembisile Nkosi and George Mwamtobe were arrested last month on allegations that on March 20, 2016 they disrupted Malawi Congress Party (MCP), Alliance for Democracy (Aford) and Peoples Party (PP) rally at Chibavi in Mzuzu.
The five are being accused of allegedly inciting violence at a political rally organised by MCP president Dr. Lazarus Chakwera in 2016.
Today the state paraded three of its six witnesses in the case.
The witnesses included victims of the alleged incident who narrated to the court events that occurred on the fateful day.
The Court has since adjourned the case to November 12, 2020 when the State will continue with its witnesses including hearing from investigators of the case.
Meanwhile, the embattled DPP governor is also currently waiting sentencing in a case in which he was convicted by the Mzimba Margistrate Court for abusing Constituency Development Funds -CDF.
