Prophet Shepherd Bushiri of Enlighten Christian Gathering (ECG) Church is today expected to appear before Pretoria High Court in South Africa after a lengthy break on the matter.
Bushiri and his wife Mary were arrested in 2019 and were charged with fraud and money laundering.
Confirming the development in a statement released on Thursday made available to faceofmalawi, the church urged congregants to remain calm as Bushiri appears in court today.
“Prophet Shepherd Bushiri and Prophetess Mary Bushiri will, this Friday October 16th, 2020 be appearing before the Pretoria High Court as part of adhering to the wheels of justice in their ongoing case.
“As a church, our message hasn’t changed: We are still calling for peace and calm. We are still calling for your continued devotion to prayer and fasting. Our prayer is that God moves this mountain to ensure that a fair, impartial and speedy justice is not just done but should also be SEEN to be done,” reads in part the statement.
Added the statement: “For those coming to the Pretoria Court to stand with our Prophets, please make sure you observe all protocols with regards to COVID-19 regulations.”
Thousands of people are expected to attend the court hearing today
