Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Regional Governor for the North Christopher Mzomera Ngwira has said he will appeal the 4 years jail sentence handed to him by the Mzimba Magistrate Court today.

Mzomera Ngwira’s lawyer Victor Gondwe disclosed this when reacting to the court ruling on the matter.

Gondwe said his client was a first offender who deserved a leaner sentence.

Mzomera was found guilty of abusing office as he spent K650,000 without consultation of school committee members for the construction of Lukwelukwe Primary school teacher house in 2009-10 when he was Member of Parliament for Mzimba Hora.

The court also found that he dubiously had a hand in awarding contract for the project to his close friend Luis Mtonga.
