Police in Mzimba have arrested two people suspected to have murdered Emmanuel Phiri, 37, at Engalaweni in the district.
Mzimba Police Spokesperson, Sub-inspector, Peter Botha said the deceased was during the night of 04-05 October, 2020 seen drinking beer in various bottle stores at Mzimba Boma.
He said later Phiri got heavily drunk and he was in the morning found dead at Engalaweni.
“Phiri’s body was found in a pool of blood with his face heavily damaged by a sharp object,” said Botha.
Botha said police have since arrested Douglas Chunga 19 and Esau Nyathi Chirwa 44 in connection to the murder.
“We are still investigating and once we are through, the suspects will answer murder charges,” he said.
Phiri hailed from Chisang’aza Village in the area of Traditional Authority (TA) Mabilabo in Mzimba District.
Chirwa hails from Kayuni Village in TA Kampingo Sibande in Mzimba District while Chunga is of Chinkhali Village in TA Kaomba in Kasungu.
