Archbishop Tarsizio Ziyaye of the Roman Catholic Church has spoken against legalizing abortion in the country.
Archbishop Ziyaye was speaking today in Mchinji during the official opening of St Paul’s Catholic Parish.
In his remarks, Archbishop Ziyaye such act is against the word of God which does not allow any person to take away another person’s life of which abortion is regarded as killing.
Ziyaye added that every person was made in the image of God and as such is special and urged every individual to love one another and value life.
He therefore added that there is need to address challenges that are being advanced as reasons for legalizing abortion, but not legalizing abortion.
Member of Parliament are yet to discuss the amendment of the bill which if passed will allow women to abort pregnancies if they want.
The country’s state vice president Saulos Chilima was in attendance.
