Death has been announced of Dedza District Health Officer Dr. Regina Chimenya.

Chimenya died on Wednesday night at Adventist Hospital in Blantyre.

It is alleged that Dr. Regina Chimenya was on July 1, 2020 hit by a lorry at Bembeke market where she went to buy vegetables.

“The accident occurred as she was placing vegetables at the back of her car and the lorry driver failed to apply brakes and rammed on her. The accident affected her leg. She was then rushed to her office Dedza hospital and same day referred to Kamuzu Central Hospital,” reads part of the report.

She was recently admitted to Blantyre Adventist Hospital following recommendation from Doctors from Beitcure.

Currently the body of Dr. Regina is currently at College of Medicine Mortuary.

Chimenya will be laid to rest at her home village in Chiradzulu on Friday.
