Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo popularly known as Tompolo, was a former militant leader in Niger Delta.

Tompolo, led the disbanded Emancipation of Niger Delta, but was given amnesty in October 4, 2009 after he allowed peace in the Niger Delta region.

However, he immediately went in to hiding after President Buhari was sworn in to power in 2015, as troops were ordered to apprehend him.

On October 19, video of Tompolo went viral online, after he was spotted in public for the first time in six years on, at the Egbesu shrine in his Oporoza country home in Gbaramatu, Delta State.

In the viral video, the former warlord and his friends were seen dancing, worshipping and offering thanksgiving to Egbesu, the Ijaw god.

There are speculation currently making round on social media, as some Nigerians believe that Tompolo’s sudden reappearance, has to do with the ongoing #EndSars protest in the country.
