Police in the Northern Region have arrested a man in Mzimba District suspected to have stabbed his girlfriend to death over suspicions that she had a secret love affair.
Northern Region Police Deputy Public Relations Officer, Maurice Chapola, confirmed of the development in an interview with the press and identified the suspect as Mafayo Mizwa.
According to Chapola, the suspect is believed to have stabbed his girlfriend, Annily Nkhonse,18, on Tuesday at Chimutu Hara village, Traditional Authority (T/A) M’mbelwa.
Chapola said the incident occurred at around 4:00 pm at a borehole where the suspect stabbed in the chest the deceased three times.
24 year-old Mizwa faces murder, which is contrary to section 208 of the Penal Code.
