A man identified as Mbondo Zimba, has been arrested for allegedly being found in possession with 12 pieces of raw ivory weighing about 61.5 kilograms.
It is said that the 79 year old, was arrested at Chisinga in Kasungu district following a tip from the from a well wisher that he was was offering for sale the raw ivory.
Kasungu police spokesperson Harry Namwaza, says the suspect will appear in court soon to answer charges of being found in possession of specimen of listed species contrary to section 86 (1) as read with section 110(b) of National Parks and Wildlife Act.
Zimba, hails from Bokosi village in the area of Traditional Authority Mwase in the district.
