The Malawi Network of Elderly Persons Organization (MANEPO) has said it will hold protests over the killing of a 70 year old woman in Dedza on the allegations that she was practicing witchcraft.
MANEPO Executive Director Andrew Kavala disclosed this last night during a media briefing in in the capital Lilongwe.
According to Kavala, the protest will be held in conjunction with the Women Lawyers Association.
He, however, indicated that other details like the dates and routes for the demonstrations will be communicated in due course.
Last weekend angry members of the community in the district stoned the granny to death on witchcraft accusations.
The 70 year old woman was stoned to death on Saturday on the allegations that she killed her granddaughter through magic.
According to the eye witness, the child died the moment the woman had killed a hare.
Meanwhile, the law enforcers are keeping in custody 2 people in connection with the matter.
