Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) District governors for the Northern region have asked the party’s president Peter Mutharika to appoint new regional governor to replace reverend Christopher Mzomera Ngwira who is jailed.

Mzomera Ngwira was sentenced to 4 years Imprisonment with Hard Labor (IHL) for abuse of office.

According to Rumphi West district governor Kondwani Harawa, the governors have agreed to hold a meeting on Friday where, among others, they will appoint an acting regional governor.

The decision comes after some party leaders presented four names to the party’s secretariat and Mutharika from where one would be picked for the position.

Meanwhile, Mutharika is yet to make a decision over the matter.
