The High Court in Lilongwe has slapped five years jail sentence former Minister of Homeland Security Uladi Mussa over his role in a in a passport scam that took place years ago.
The court has also slapped Mussa with 12 months imprisonment for neglect of official duties.
High Court Judge Chifundo Kachale delivered the ruling on Thursday in the capital Lilongwe.
Kachale convicted Mussa for fraudulently aiding foreign nationals to acquire Malawi passports and citizenship.
Kachale found Mussa and former Regional Immigration Officer David Kwanjana guilty on three counts of using public office to the advantage of another, neglecting official duties and altering false documents.
