At least 17 worshipers have died after a three-storey church building collapsed in eastern Ghana.
National Disaster Management Organisation official Gyan Willington confirmed the news in a statement on Thursday, October 22, 2020.
AFP reported that a survivor revealed that there were no less than 60 people inside the building when the accident happened in the town of Akyem Batabi.
The Eastern Region Minister Eric Darfour said the rescue mission is ongoing and the number of people still trapped is unknown but at least eight people were pulled out alive together with 17 corpses.
The cause of the accident is still unknown and those rescued have been sent to hospital with more people feared trapped in the rubble.
The Church of Prosperity belongs to Prophet Isaac Ofori, popularly known as Akoa Isaac and he’s reportedly at the scene helping police with investigation.
