President Dr Lazarus Chakwera says he will do everything in his capacity to stimulate the tourism industry to spur creation of more jobs.
The President was speaking at the official opening of Golden Peacock Hotel in Blantyre.
The Malawi leader said tourism industry sits at the heart of Transport, food, retail aviation among other services that creates business and economic development.
The President said his government will expedite the Tourism Industry Master Plan so that there’s proper coordination and development of the sector.
Chakwera disclosed the African Development Bank has committed 10 million United States as an investment package for the industry.
The Malawi leader said the Ministry of Tourism should work hand in hand with Malawi Revenue Authority to have tax incentives that boosts the industry.
He further said there’s need to redesign airports and roads that depicts the true picture of a tourist attraction site.
