A middle-aged Kenyan man from Kalundu Village in Kitui Town was on Thursday, October 22 lynched by irate mourners after he killed a youthful woman, who had attended his brother’s burial.

Kalundu Senior Assistant Chief, Dominic Malombe, told local publication K24 Digital that the man reached for a blunt object and smashed it against the woman’s head, killing her on the spot.

It remains unclear what prompted the aggressor to attack his victim.

Earlier Thursday, the man had attacked the woman’s husband by hitting him (victim) . The victim, however, ran away to an unknown destination, leaving his spouse behind. The aggressor, thereafter, turned against the victim’s spouse.

Angry mourners, who had convened at the burial ceremony, descended on the suspect with kicks, blows and crude weapons.

He died while being taken to Hospital for treatment.

Bodies of the two – the man and his female victim – were moved to the Kitui Level 4 Hospital morgue.

Police say investigations into the pair’s killings have commenced.
