The Supreme Court of Appeal in Blantyre has reserved its ruling to a later date on an application to amend notices of appeal by the Attorney General, Dr. Chikosa Silungwe, who wants to resuscitate an appeal case, challenging a pay out of K3.04 billion to Mulli Brothers in compensation for damage to property during the July 20, 2011 protests.
The case was before Justice of Appeal Frank Kapanda.
Sulungwe wants Mulli Companies to pay back the money that was illegally paid to them (Chombe Tea and Sunrise Pharmaceuticals).
Mulli’s lawyers are against the application saying it’s in bad faith and that the Attorneys-General who were in office then (Kalekeni Kaphale and Charles Mhango) settled the matter and paid.
Justice Kapanda has since reserved his ruling on the matter.
