The High Court in Blantyre has started hearing a case involving well-known business tycoon Thom Mpinganjira who is being accused of attempting to bribe Constitutional Court Judges handling the Presidential polls case.

The state through Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Director Reyneck Matemba said it is ready with the trial by parading witnesses starting with the five Judges involved in the attempted bribe.

But Mpinganjira’s lawyer Patrice Nkhono objected to this saying the parties entered into the plea bargaining.

Nkhono has since asked for a few more days to make a final decision but the court has rejected the request.

First state witness judge Mike Tembo has started testifying.

Tembo has told the court that he knows Mpinganjira as they go to the same church.

He however says the evidence he will give is not personal.
