National Oil Company of Malawi (NOCMA) Board of Directors have suspended two senior officials for the parastatal for fourteen days to pave way for investigations into the alleged financial and procurement irregularities at the company.

The two are NOCMA’s Chief Executive Officer, Gift Dulla and his Director of Finance Richard Milanzie have been suspended effective October 29, 2020.

The suspension follows the arrest of Dulla on 17 September, 2020 by the Malawi Police Service whose case is yet to be known.

Meanwhile, the Board has hired Deputy Chief Executive Officer Hellen Buluma as acting CEO of NOCMA.

However, the hiring of Buluma to be the acting CEO for NOCMA has drawn different opinions from Tonse Alliance sympathizers who are accusing Buluma of being pro- Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).

Meanwhile, State President Lazarus Chakwera has called on the board of directors to act on the rumors making rounds on social media regarding Buluma.
