The corruption case involving Gerald Viola, former Deputy Chief Executive Officer for National Food Reserve Agency (NFRA) is expected to start today at Lilongwe Principal Resident Magistrate Court.
Viola is accused of dubiously awarding Misses Trading company a 3.3 billion kwacha contract to supply NFRA with 10 million metric tonnes of maize.
It is further alleged that he pocketed 3.3 million kwacha from the contract.
Viola is charged with three counts in the case;misuse of public office, interfering with procurement and forgery.
The state through the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) is today expected to start parading its witnesses in the case.
