President for Rotary Club of Limbe, Nabel Panjwani has said the intention of Rotarians is to have a lot of activities to raise funds to sponsor projects and programmes as they do charitable work.
Speaking in an interview after a meeting held at Blantyre Sports Club, the President said the main objectives of Rotary Club of Limbe is sharing idea as it was started by business people.
“The paramount and objectivities of Rotary Foundation which was started in 1900 in Chicago (USA) was to fundraise money to sponsor and implement programmes and projects across the World,” he said.
The president further said Malawi, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Mozambique raise K600, 000 Euros every year as initiative to eradicate polio in the World.
Shortly Rotary Club of Limbe raised K90 million and buy various medical and non-medical items such as oxygen, concentrators, Mattresses, Drugs, Masks, Gloves, Laundry soap, and it was donated to Malamulo Hospital (Mkwasa) in Thyolo district.
The club also renovated Mlambe Hospital in Lunzu.
They provide Personal Protective Equipment’s (PPEs) which was donated to local Orphanage and will raise funds to renovate Zomba Isolation Centre, assist Blantyre DHO and help Lirangwe Health Centre.
Director of Rotary Foundation, Ian Bonongwe said the Foundation promotes four programs which include Water and Sanitation, Education, Leadership and promotion of Peace.
He said every year November was designated for Rotary Foundation to raise money to sponsor various programmes and Projects across the World.
