The Public Affairs Committee (PAC) and Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace (CCJP) have called on candidates in the by-elections to accept defeat or follow proper ways of challenging results if not satisfied with the results.

The two organizations said this at a press briefing on the by-elections that are currently taking place in some parts of the country.

PAC and CCJP have bemoaned the violence that occurred in Lilongwe North West constituency and Karonga Central constituency.

The organizations say political parties should promote peace to ensure free and fair elections.

They have since called on police to also investigate the violence that took place in the two constituencies and ensure that the law takes its course.

They further said that they are ready to ensure that the by-elections are credible and reliable as they have deployed over 75 observers in all places where by-elections are taking place.
