The High Court in Blantyre has adjourned to 2:30pm a bribery case involving retired businessman and founder of FDH Holdings Thom Mpinganjira.

In the morning, Mpinganjira’s lawyer Fostina Mayele quizzed Justice Mike Tembo on the number of issues including the parcel which was to be delivered to Justice Healy Potani who was chairing the Constitutional Court Judges who handled the Presidential polls case.

Justice Tembo said he did not contact Mpinganjira at all but Mpinganjira contacted him four times and in the totality of the conversations, Mpinganjira said there was a parcel which he wanted Justice Tembo to take to Justice Healy Potani, who was chairing the five judge panel, to share with the entire panel.

Justice Tembo said he did not actually see the parcel himself because he was not interested.
He however said from Mpinganjira’s tone, he believed that the parcel actually existed.

Turning to Tembo’s friendship with Mpinganjira, Tembo said he was not his friend outside the church, saying he tried to mess up his job.
