The Parliament of Malawi on Wednesday, 11th November, 2020 signed a five year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Pan African Parliament.
Among others, the MoU aims to foster mutual interests between the Pan African Parliament and the Parliament of Malawi.
The MoU further allows Members of Parliament and parliamentary officials in the two parliaments, in their respective competencies, to work in partnership with the aim of strengthening their capacity and promoting African Union principles, rule of law and respect for human rights.
With respect to their applicable Rules of Procedures (for Pan-African Parliament- Rule 84: Exchange of information, contacts and reciprocal facilities and others and Standing Order 209 of the National Assembly of Malawi), the two Parliaments will share common concerns and complementarity at continental and national levels.
According to the MoU, areas of partnership include promotion/ratification/domestication of AU Treaties and Legal Instruments, High-level Representation, Capacity building and visibility of the PAP.
