KENYA – A police constable attached to Parklands police station was on Monday evening beaten to death by a civilian around the Ngara area in Nairobi.
The officer identified as Joshua Lomwatum reportedly got into an argument over an old phone with a dealer identified as Willy alias Ras.
According to a police report, the cop was heard arguing with the suspect at his stall where he sells second hand items before a scuffle ensued.
Witnesses say the suspect punched the cop severally on the face before kicking him in the belly.
The officer died on the spot.
According to a senior police officer who sought anonymity over the matter, the suspect fled towards the Riverside after the incident and is still at large.
The body of the officer was moved to the Kenyatta University Mortuary pending an autopsy.
