A violent clash broke out during the funeral of a 25-year-old man who allegedly ended his own life. The man took the drastic step after he had a fight with his in-laws. Allegedly, the in-laws of the man and his family got into a clash on the day of his funeral.

The deceased was identified as Jaspal. Jaspal got married to Jyoti during the coronavirus lockdown. The couple, however, started having problems soon after their marriage.

On Monday, the day of Bhai Dooj, Jaspal went to Sambhal’s Sihawali village to meet his in-laws and wife. However, on the same day, Jaspal had an argument with his in-laws and was assaulted by his brother-in-law.

On returning home, Jaspal locked the door of his room and hanged himself to death. After the incident, Jaspal family members refused to let his in-laws attend his funeral and stopped them from entering the cremation ground as well.

A police team was also called to the spot when the situation went out of hand, The Times of India reported. When the police was mediating between the two families, a few members of Jaspal’s family lit the pyre. Following this, the deceased man’s in-laws tried to douse the fire and a fight broke out between the two families. Several people were injured during the clash.

Extra police personnel led by Hayatnagar SHO Vidyut Goyal went to the spot and sent over 200 people present at the spot back to their homes. The cops ensured that the cremation was conducted properly.

Arun Kumar Singh, circle officer said, “Police have not received a complaint from any party, so far, but taking suo moto cognisance of the matter sub-inspector Dharmendra Gautam registered an FIR under section 147 (rioting) and 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).” Singh added that they are using the viral videos of the incident to identify the accused.
