Enlighten Christian Gathering (ECG) church Public Relations Officer Ephraim Nyondo has trashed media reports claiming that four lawyers have recused themselves from representing Prophet Shepherd Bushiri and his wife Mary.
On Thursday, the social media was awash with reports that four lawyers namely; Khumbo Soko, Noel Chalamanda, Lusungu Gondwe and Allan Chinula SC have left Bushiri’s legal team, leaving the case in the hands of lawyer Wapona Kita,
Writing on his official facebook page, Nyondo who is also Bushiri’s PRO accused the media of poor presentation of facts on the matter.
“This thing about lawyers this, and lawyers that is a result of careless packaging of information by some journalist. I am sure that is why Misa Malawi warned against careless reporting on Prophet Bushiri’s case because its a highly charged case with multiple sensitivities.
“Lusungu Gondwe and team were handling the judicial review of the warrant of arrest case that was filed yesterday and the judge pushed its inter partes hearing to Tuesday,” wrote Nyondo.
He added: “In case of the bail application, Wapona Kita was ropped in. He is busy with it as of now.
“Unfortunately, some of our journalists are more interested in breaking opinions than news. Lets report responsibly be ensuring that all facts have been verified. Lets not mislead the public and give them reasons to speculate wildly.”
Meanwhile the Bushiris are appearing before the Lilongwe Magistrate Court.
