Youths under the government internship program have postponed their planned demonstrations which were slated for today.

The grouping planned demonstrations to air out their grievances in relation to the non-payment of their stipends dating back from September.

However as of Thursday evening, the interns had started receiving their payment for the month of October and have been assured to receive payment for the month of September before Wednesday next week.

In an interview, Steven Zaweni acting spokesperson of the grouping said due to the response they have gotten from authorities they have temporarily postponed the said demonstrations.

The graduate internship programme which was introduced in 2018 has about 4000 graduates interning with various government ministries and departments.
