Some traditions if well established, will go a long way of reducing marital immorality and abuses from marriage. It will not just make the men respect their wife’s, it will create an avenue where no man will take a woman for granted. Over millions of women are walking around in this country with children but technically, they have not been married. Some are even living under the same roof with the man, doing all the chores a married wife is supposed to do but the man hasn’t married her yet. This if not checked will make a lot of men take advantage of the female population in this country.

The Asona clan of Tepa in the Ahafo Ano North District of the Ashanti region has given an everlasting respect to one of their own before allowing her to go sleep in peace in the bosom of six feet. What many men did for fun, this family made sure they paid well before taking their deceased sister, daughter and mother to her grave. It was in August 14, 2000 when Emmanuel and Emmanuella met in Mim, a sub town of Goaso in the Bono East region.

Emmanuel was into cocoa buying whiles Achia Emmanuella was into buying and selling of plantain. Achia buys the plantains and sends them to Accra, the capital for marketing whiles Emmanuel was working for a bigger state company which buys cocoa in bulk purchases from farmers and transport them to Accra for shipping to foreign Nations. Achia Emmanuella was on route to Accra from Mim with her products been the plantain, when the cargo carrying the load broke down few metres away from the Mim Police Station.

Emmanuel who was sitting at the front seat of the long vehicle truck they were carrying their cocoa with, stopped in the middle of the night to help the stranded cargo plantain car. It was an engine fault and will take five days to get a new engine and fix the cargo. Achia was in distress as her plantain will ripe by then, meaning total loss to her. Emmanuel volunteered to carry her load to their long vehicle truck and join them to Accra since they are heading there.

Achia who was filled with joy soon became the best friend of Emmanuel and they started playing with their car engines after that day. Achia soon gave birth to twins after a year with Emmanuel. Emmanuel didn’t find the need to go and marry her, Achia and Emma continued playing with their car engines after the twins and another twins was born again. In two birth Achia and Emma has four children in total.

Achia’s family summoned Emmanuel to their family grounds during the second naming ceremony and told him to use the naming ceremony of the second twins to organize a small marriage ceremony to officially mark Achia as his wife but Emmanuel did not do it. Emmanuel kept playing with Achia’s car engine and another one came, this time not twins but single one.

The family of Achia boycotted the third naming ceremony citing reasons that until Emmanuel makes up his mind to do marriage ceremony simultaneously with the last birth, they won’t step a foot at that naming ceremony. Officially the naming ceremony of the last child didn’t happen but he was given a name. Since 2000 to 2020, over 19years of Emmanuel playing with Achia’s car engines and never did it occur to him to go and officially Wed his baby mother.

The family warned him not to take advantage of their daughter Achia but Emmanuel always cited money issues. Achia fell sick in June 10, 2020 and couldn’t survive. She was confirmed dead when they rushed her to the hospital. The Asona family of Tepa after hearing of Achia’s death went for the body and summoned Emmanuel before their Abusuapanin, family head. It was there, they gave the compulsory note to Emmanuel Obeng that, until he weds the late wife in full wedding ceremony, Achia will not be buried.

Emmanuel according to his elder’s son Asante Obeng Snr. said his father begged the family with multiple known members of the community and his church leaders but the family said no and that was how come the body was persevered in the morgue till yesterday when Achia Emmanuella Obeng was wedded on burial bed before she was buried. Achia was buried with the name Mrs. Obeng Achia Emmanuella.
