The Board of Directors of the National oil Company of Malawi (NOCMA) has dismissed Helen Buluma as Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Buluma was pointed acting CEO of NOCMA last month replacing Gift Dulla after the board suspended him over financial irregularities.
Following Buluma’s appointment there were growing concerns from members of Tonse Administrations who accused Buluma of being pro Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).
The concerns grabbed the attention of the country’s President Lazarus Chakwera who directed that the Board should revisit its decision.
Statehouse press secretary Brian Banda has confirmed that the board already communicated its decision to President Lazarus Chakwera.
Earlier this month, the President gave the board two weeks to look into public concerns surrounding the appointment of Buluma. According to Banda, Buluma has been informed about the decision.
Some NOCMA staff were also pressing the board to take disciplinary action against Buluma for alleged mistreatment.
