Nkhunga Police Station is keeping in custody Gift Mzula for allegedly raping an 18-year-old girl and stole her mobile phone.
Facts are that, on November 21, 2020, the victim was traveling from Salima to Mzimba. when she reached at Dwangwa, she realized that her money was not enough to reach her destination.
She then decided to offer her phone for sell, in the process she met the suspect who showed interest in buying the cell phone.
Mzula picked her to his house where he said she would get her money.
Upon reaching at Mzula’s house, he started making delays and finally forced the victim into his house where he unprotectedly raped her. She was forced away without geting back her mobile phone.
The victim reported the matter to police where she was referred to Nkhunga Health Center for medical examination. The medical report confirmed that she was raped.
Mzula who hails from Chitedze village, T/A Mwadzama in Nkhotakota District will appear before the court of law soon to answer rape and theft charges.
