Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Councillor for Bangwe Nthandizi Ward Isaac Jomo Osman has resigned from front-line politics with immediate effect, faceofmalawi can reveal.
Jomo’s move comes barely months after a series of arrest placed on him with the latest being assault allegations on a boy drapped in Malawi Congress Party (MCP) regalia in Limbe market during the reign of DPP under former President Peter Mutharika.
Speaking during ‘Moyo Wawo’ programme hosted by Gospel Gerald Kanyama on Ufulu fm on Tuesday night Jomo, popularly known as Ntopwa 1 said he is done with politics.
“I am no longer in frontline politics and now i want to concentrate on personal business,” said Osman while asking for forgiveness from those people he offended.
Osman also played down claims by certain quarters of the society that he is an evil man, saying the claim is untrue.
“Some claim that am an evil man and i have blood in my hands based on the video clip that went viral on social media showing me attacking a boy in MCP regalia. That was just a mere joke and Malawians should not take the video seriously.
“I look after the orphans, the elderly, the street kids and some are is Secondary schools. I pay them school fees,” said Osman.
He then urged Malawians to embrace the mindset change preached by the country’s Vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima.
