The long-awaited return of Mike Tyson is almost upon us. The ‘Baddest Man on the Planet’ is set to go toe-to-toe with former world champ Roy Jones Jr in a charity boxing bout this weekend at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

But the event has come under fire in recent weeks after multiple reports emerged regarding the strange clauses in the fight contract.

While one report suggested that there would be strictly ‘no knockouts’ during the heavyweight clash, the latest rumour to hit the news is perhaps the most questionable.

According to BoxingScene, drug testing for marijuana ‘won’t be included’.

It’s understood the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) will test for every other performance enhancing drug prior to and after the event – but weed won’t be one of them. And, well, there’s a pretty good reason for that.

While Tyson is training like a man possessed, he’s also busy running his highly-successful cannabis company Tyson Holistic Holdings. On top of that, his personal ranch – Tyson Ranch – seems to have taken off since its launch.

It’s safe to say that the ageing warrior-turned-marijuana farmer likes to indulge in some recreational drug use here and there.

And if you’ve ever listened to his podcast, which is conveniently-named the ‘Hotboxin’ Podcast’, then you’d understand why.

The 53-year-old revealed that he and his team had been smoking around $40,000 worth of weed every, single, goddamn, month. His co-host, Eben Britton revealed that they go through around 10 tons a month, which, again, is a bloody big amount of weed.

Surely, no one person could consume that much every month unless they were literally sucking down joints every second breath and chucking it in their shampoo, olive oil, brownies and milk.

In the podcast he also explained that his ranch is selling about $500,000 worth of weed to dispensaries in California, so it’s not too bad that they’re taking a cut of that for themselves.

Tyson was excited for his 407-acre ranch in Southern California to be home to a whole host of tourism attractions, including a huge lazy river and the Kind Music Festival, which he and his business partner Rob Hickman describe as ‘the Lollapalooza of cannabis’.

But, cannabis aside, the upcoming charity bout between the two boxing legends in their 50s is shaping up to be an interesting spectacle.

With both men in tremendous shape and eager to make a statement, you wouldn’t be surprised to see either fighter push the boundaries with that bizarre ‘no knockouts’ rule.
