President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has left the country for Botswana to attend an emergency Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) summit.
The key agenda of the meeting is the conflict in Mozambique and planned change in the Force Intervention Brigade in Democratic Republic of Congo.
Speaking before departure at Kamuzu International Airport (KIA) in the capital Lilongwe, Chakwera said Malawi,as the incoming chairperson of Sadc, has a critical role to play in ensuring that there is peace in the region.
Chakwera is expected to arrive back in Malawi today evening.
