Police in Kasungu are keeping in custody four Zambian nationals for hunting in Kasungu National Park.

The suspects have been identified as Gilbert Phiri, 54, Dyson Nyirongo, 61, Mabvuto Phiri, 48, and Peter Zimba, 54.

Reports say Kasungu Wildlife assistants were on patrol duties in Kasungu National Park. As they were discharging their duties they found the mentioned suspects hunting in the park.

Upon apprehending the suspects, it was discovered that the four Zambian nationals had illegally entered into the National Park with an intention to hunt protected animals.

The suspects will appear before court soon to answer the charges of illegal entry and hunting in protected area.

Gilbert Phiri hails from Dyakanani Village, Tradition Authority Mkanda in Chipata district whereas Dryson Nyirongo, Mabvuto Phiri and Peter Zimba hail from Njalale Village, Traditional Authority Chanje in Chipangali district. All the suspects are from Zambia.
