Prison inmate Jonathan Watson confessed to killing 2 child molesters with a cane in January.
Jonathan Watson confessed to the murder of David Bobb and Graham De Luis-Conti.
In a letter to the Bay Area News Group in Northern California, Jonathan Watson confessed to killing two child molesters. Currently, the 41-year-old man is serving a life sentence for a 2009 murder conviction.
On January 16, Watson had allegedly used a cane to club two men to death just hours after he had asked his counselor to transfer him to higher-level security.
The two men were 48-year old David Bobb and 62-year-old Graham De Luis-Conti who were both serving life sentences for aggravated sexual assault of a child under 14, reported KUTV.
Watson had been transferred to a lower-security dormitory pod.
The prisoner’s security classification had reportedly been changed just days before he committed the murders. According to KUTV, Watson had been transferred from a single-person cell to a lower-security dormitory pod at the Central Valley facility.
Surprisingly, the prisoner had protested this as he had known that the transfer was “careless”. In his letter, Watson wrote that six days after he had been transferred to the prison, the first child molester had been moved to the pod. That night, the 41-year-old had been unable to sleep knowing that he had ‘not done what every instinct told me I should’ve done right then and there’.
Hours before the attacks, he asked to be transferred to higher-level security but his counselor ignored him.
On the following day (the day of the attacks), Watson spoke to a counselor and said he needed to be transferred back ‘before I really (expletive) one of these dudes up’. Not listening to his request, the counselor had ‘scoffed and dismissed’ him back to the dormitory pod. According to KUTV, Watson further wrote:
I was mulling it all over when along came Molester #1 and he put his TV right on PBS Kids again […] But this time, someone else said something to the effect of ‘Is this guy really going to watch this right in front of us?’ and I recall saying, ‘I got this.’ And I picked up the cane and went to work on him.
On his way to turn himself in, he saw another known child trafficker.
When Watson murdered the first man, he was ready to turn himself in; however, on his way to the guard, he had seen his second victim. He wrote that he saw ‘a known child trafficker, and I figured I’d just do everybody a favor […] In for a penny, in for a pound.’ After the second murder, he turned himself in but the guard did not believe him. He had allegedly only believed him after ‘he looked around the corner and saw the mess I’d left in the dorm area,’ Watson wrote.
Being a lifer, I’m in a unique position where I sometimes have access to these people and I have so little to lose. And trust me, we get it, these people are every parents’ worst nightmare.
