State President Lazarus Chakwera has said he will not comment on the allegations leveled on one of his cabinet Members Newton Kambala that he is interfering with deals at National Oil Company of Malawi (NOCMA) because the matter is under investigations by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).
This has been disclosed by State House’s Director of Communications Sean Kampondeni when addressing journalist at Sanjika Palace in Blantyre during the weekly press briefing.
Over the week there have been media reports that senior officials from the Tonse Alliance leadership including Minister of Energy Kambala are interfering in the procurement of fuel at NOCMA.
During the weekend, NOCMA’s Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Helen Buluma lodged a complaint to ACB over the matter hence Chakwera’s decision not to comment on the matter paving way for ACB to do its investigations.
Kampondeni further added that the president will make determination on how to go about the situation.
