Elephants caused havoc in the area of Traditional Authority (T/A) Chindi in Mzimba where they killed several people and injured a 10-year-old boy.

According to the Director of Parks and Wildlife, Brighton Kumchedwa, the elephants were from Zambia and have since driven back where they came from.

“The herd of elephants that terrorized Kanyerere village, Chasimba area, T/A Chindi, Mzimba have been successfully driven back into Zambia where we believe they came from, without further loss of life or injuries,” he said.

The Department of National Parks and Wildlife has since sent condolences to the bereaved families who lost their loved ones and quick recovery for the boy who was injured by the same elephants.
