28 year old man, Wilson Mphevu has been arrested for allegedly defiling his 3 year old step daughter in Kasungu.
According to Sargent Miracle Mkozi, Kasungu Police Assistance Public Relations officer, the incident took place on November 25, 2020 at Miliya village in Dowa District.
According to reports, the victim was left with the suspect when the mother went to her home village in Dowa to see one of her relatives who is sick.
When the mother of the victim retuned, she found her weak and the suspect who is her husband told the mother that the child has the signs of malaria
Upon checking the victim properly, the mother discovered that the victim had some wounds and bruises on her private part that is when she noted that her daughter had been defiled.
The victim later revealed to her mother that the suspect had defiled after when she was asked about the bruises and wounds on her private parts.
The mother rushed to the hospital with the 3 year old daughter for further treatment and examination.
The matter was reported to police who upon receiving the complaint arrested the suspect.
The suspect is in police custody and will appear before court soon to answer the charge of defilement.
Wilson Mphevu hails from Miliyasi Village, Traditional Authority Chakhaza in Dowa District.
