High Court in Lilongwe has adjourned a case involving Leader of Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) Prophet Shepherd Bushiri and his wife Mary to December 14, 2020.

The adjournment is set to hear the preliminary objections raised by the couples lawyer Wapona Kita.

The lawyer is challenging the jurisdiction of the court to sit and hear the application of the state for criminal review when extradition proceedings are civil proceedings.

The State challenged the unconditional release of the Bushiri’s who were freed by the lower court on the 19th of November 2020, where the Chief resident magistrate ruled that the two were arrested illegally.

The warrant of arrest was issued after Bushiri and his wife violated bail conditions by skipping the rainbow Nations days after they were granted bail by the Pretoria Magistrate Court in South Africa, where they are answering charges of fraud and money laundering.
